Had enough of the world? Had a bad day at work? Or is the better half having a right royal whine? This is the achievement for you, an opportunity to do nothing but smash something’s face in for a couple of hours…… LEGALLY!
Your achievement is earned once you raise your unarmed skill to 400 and is a little more complex than just happy slapping a mob 400 times, unfortunately you can only get this achievement at level 80 as like other weapon skills it has a maximum of 5x your level.
Weapon speed for unarmed is 2.00, but you can speed this up by using a Fist weapon instead (as long as the weapon speed is 2.00 or under.) Right-Handed Brass Knuckles, sold by the weapon vendors in Darnassus, Ironforge, Orgimmar and Shatthrath, are probably your best bet since they cause the least amount of damage, so you can get more punches in.
You can skill up on mobs far below your own level, to prevent the damage that you would take, but you will get fewer punches on them before they die.
Some notable mobs to kill
Mistress Natalia Mar’alith in Silithus, she has self heal ability.
The Infernal spawns outside your respective settlement in Shadowmoon Valley. The guards pick up and hold the threat from the Infernals, and you can just go in bare-fisted and grind away.
You can also enter Violet Hold and not start the encounter, just attack the mobs that are fighting the Violet Hold defender NPCs. There’s a constant supply of them, so you’ll have plenty to attack and if things start looking pear shaped you have a quick get away.
Any other way?
Another effective way to level your unarmed (or any weapon) skill if you are an achievement-crazed nutter *looks at Shell*, is while you are doing all the low levels quests. While doing these, it doesn’t matter if you have an epic equipped or if you are going bare fisted, the effect is the same…..carnage.
There is also an item you can equip, the Torch of Retribution, a quest reward which when equipped makes you do no damage at all! Equip some HP5 gear and go AFK while attacking a Deeprun Rat or a Sewer Frog in Dalaran (any critter that likes to fight back!). Citrine Ring of Rapid Healing works well and it’s usually on the AH for about a small amount of gold. The game doesn’t boot you out as long as you’re in combat, so you can go AFK for as long as it takes. Just remember to take off all your gear that has durability so you don’t end up paying a repair bill
What doesn’t work
You can’t skill up by attacking mobs that are immune to damage; for example the Servants found around the Dark Portal in Blasted Lands are not good for practicing your fisticuffs with.
The quest line for the Torch of Retribution
To get the Torch of Retribution you must complete a short quest chain in Searing Gorge.
All of these quests start and end with Kalaran Windblade (39,38).
Step 1. The Flawless Flame
Collect Heart of Flame (4) and Golem Oil (4). These drop off of golems and elementals around The Cauldron area. Magma Elementals drop both quest items so you may want to exclusively kill those.
Step 2. Forging the Shaft
Collect Thorium Plated Dagger (8). These items drop off of all the Dark Iron NPCs in and around The Cauldron as well as the Slave Workers.
Step 3. The Flame’s Casing
Obtain a Symbol of Ragnaros (1). This item has roughly at 5% drop rate off of all the Twilight’s Hammer NPCs which can be found at the Twilight’s Hammer Camp in the northwest.
Step 4. The Torch of Retribution
Simply wait for Kalaran Windblade to finish creating the Torch.
Step 5. The Torch of Retribution
Pick up the Torch of Retribution. It is floating in the pillar of green light in front of Kalaran Windblade.
That’s all for our first “Achieve This!” be sure to return complete with your Knuckle Sandwich for our next instalment.

Very helpful thread and the perfect activity on your hungover sunday tbh
Semi Off-Topic:
If “fisting” just isn’t your thing I might have something else for you!
Leveling your Wand/Throwing/Gun/Bow/Crossbow skill….
How?
Well….in a far far away land up north there is a “mob” that doesn’t attack, no matter how hard you wand or throw the bitch it will just float there in the air like a meditating budha! And the best part is….It can’t die!
The mob in question is: http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=28274
The mobs hover over Kolramas in Zul’Drak. And they are the ideal way to train your Wand/Throwing/Gun/Bow/Crossbow skill
.
Now If I Remember Correctly ( IIRC! ) there was an achievement for raising for weaponskills to the maximum level. So if you REALLLLY got nothing better to do, spend your hungover sunday on throwing/shooting/wanding!
Be nice. Boost someone through RFC and fisticuff your way through it.
I got the achievement wailing on the self healing trees on the ground under Dalaran. Also got four other weapon skills up in the same place.
My paladin got it just outside New Agamand, hitting Shoveltusks. They wander in groups, so it’s an easy 4-5 in a row, minimal movement from one group to another and the upside is you can get quite a bit of Shoveltusk meat, which is good for leveling your cooking
.
One big thing is watch out for the wandering Storm Giant, which is a lvl 80 elite and hits quite hard.
