Most of us half by accident and half by action have completed the “Explorer” achievement, added a new title and tabard to our collection and felt a little sensation of self satisfaction that comes from spamming guild chat. However for Dorä, a level one human Paladin, its not quite as simple as mounting up and racing around uncovering previously unexplored territory.
Nooooo for Dorä is aiming to be the first level one with the Explorer title, with NO help, that means soloing, no portals, summoning or multi person mounts, the only exception is one portal to Dalaran so he can access Outland and a couple of summons to the unreachable areas in Outland such as Ogri’la, Netherwing Ledge and Skettis.
From the 3rd November and in between an Officer role and busy raiding schedule Dorä has already achieved:

With the grand total of 456 deaths so far and patience pushed to the limit I asked Dorä why he has set this seemingly impossible task for himself.
“It was just one of those “good idea at the time” things, and now that I’ve started…I find it kind of relaxing really, I’m not sure if anyone else has done it, but I haven’t found any yet, the only low levels with it have been boosted by friends. It feels nice to be doing something different and of course, there is a lot of support in the guild which keeps me going in the more time consuming areas…so yes, no portals, summons, mounts, hearthstones, flight paths, mob clearing or haxx…see you when I get there!”

Discovery experience is substantial and will push you up quite a bit. On the plus side, that means from level 10 onwards, your progress will be visible on the armory.

Whether it’s worth continuing depends on whether you support the “the journey is its own reward” credo.
Dora has turned off experience gain so will stay a level one! Although this isnt a new thing it great that someone on Emerald Dream is attempting this feat! We also believe he will be the first level one explorer with no help, there are a couple of others out there that have the acheivement but with assistance from other players.

Perhaps that has changed just like the experience gain did, so feel free to enlighten this quitter. Since I am not aware of any such options, I currently have to consider the experience lock the only novelty of this attempt.
It would however be the first attempt of any flavour on Emerald Dream that I’m aware of.
Sorry, my tired commenting isn’t working in my favour, by no help I mean no help but the portal and summons I mentioned in the original post. I have done some web research and I have found a couple of level ones that have done this but in a party, with 3 person mounts, multiple summons and portals in a couple of afternoons. So yes bar the experience gain lock nothing new…. But it is something new for the realm!
True and he isnt actually getting “help” to explore, he is getting to an area then moving on himself. Also I think there are a few places where he can die to get to the GY in the out of reach areas, so as we have found out I think just one summon to Dalaran will be needed not quite sure yet.
