Well, it might be, but probably not if you get a whisper like this one:

I’m sure none of our readers would fall for such a thing, but you can’t say you weren’t warned. Remember, if it’s really a GM not only do they get a nice blue blizzard logo next to their name instead of just “GM”, their chat with you will automatically open in a seperate window. I believe you also get a popup notification that a GM wants to speak with you.
If all else fails, use common sense. If there was a problem with your account why would they log in and find you in-game to tell you?
This has been a public service announcement, helping you defend your stuff.
Cheers to all the people in trade today warning about this crap on alliance-side.

I rarely check my spam box in Googlemail on a regular basis, preferring to leave it for a month at a time. This result in what seems like thousands of messages. I reckon, the last time I checked, I had at least 8 “your account has been suspended” etc type messages on the front page alone. I can see why people might fall for them as the standard of English and grammar used has improved immensely. Mind you , I can;t understand why someone would be so gullible, given all the press about such activities.
Although there’s been a recent issue concerning Authenticators, it’s bloody essential to have one. Especially if ye have well geared chars and a well stocked personal bank

In-game I never get told my account is suspended. I always seem to get the ‘your winner of free mount, enter account detail at [keylogging site]‘ type. Now if they offered vanity pets they might have a better chance…
