FAILPUG! Heals? I’m a BLOOD DK!

Ahh the daily Heroic. Fifteen minutes of relaxed pew pew to get my 2 shiny Frost Badges. But alas, all is not well with today’s run. Today we get… the jerk tank.

Now the jerk tank is a peculiar species, it is a jerk and it is a tank. Hence the name: jerk tank. But you can’t just kick him cause the group needs tank. But what happens when a fight occurs between tank and healer? This is what happened.

It’s Utgarde Pinnacle, two seconds into the run the tank leaves the group. Oh well, back into the queue few moments later we get a new tank. Little did I know the tank was actually a prophet and knew how badly this run was going to go.

New tank teleports in, he charges into the mobs and then into the next room paying no attention to the fact that our healer is not with us. We die, and the tank gets stuck into the healer who explains that he wasn’t there because a mob from the previous room was beating on him.

Know what happens when you give the healer a lot of crap? Yeah that’s right, he leaves. Being the nice guy I am and knowing fine well it was the tank’s fault for not paying attention to where his healer was I was supportive.

Unfortunately the waves of hate spurned by the failboat continued, Captain Strike at the helm not letting up, the healer DC’s… right as Strike pulls a boss.

You heard it here. Blood DKs need no healing. I’m sure you can see where this is going.

Yup. Wipe again.

This sad tale does have some good news. We got a new healer and finished the run. Also I was on my Hunter so I had zero repair bills!

Necrall uses mockery, it’s super effective!

    Perhaps I shouldn’t, but I can’t help it… LOL!

What still amazes me is that the peole are the biggest problem have no idea that they are the problem.

    • Munas

Bad play tends to go hand in hand with a bad attitude to create some unholy abomination of fail.

People who can realize they are the problem are probably taking steps to ensure they don’t remain as one anyway.

Surprised the DK was not from Al’Akir Oops sorry BLOOD DK

  • Necroid

Now be fair. It was obviously his first time trying a Blood build. One look at improved rune tap, vampiric blood, and his little wormies, must have convinced him that he was invincible. Perhaps when he died he figured he just hadn’t used them right, or got unlucky, hence him charging in again…

I tanked with a build that had a lot of Blood, and first thing you realise is that all those nifty little self-heals are just that, little. They are very handy in a pinch, in that they give the healer an extra second or two if they are struggling, and they have saved my life on many occasions. As a replacement for a healer though?!?

So lol! A prize twit ^^

The other day in guild chat we were discussing DK tanks, and I was singing their praises, having had several comfortable runs with DK tanks.

But lo it was too early, for since then every DK tank I have had has been nothing short of terrible with a sprinkle of arrogance.

For some reason they want to pull everymob, turn their back on them and roll around in their own filth, and then shout at dps and healers, as they can’t hold aggro, and it is nigh on impossible to heal the damage they take.

I don’t like healing DK tanks – Gimme a proper tank any day! :p

Oh well, it seems tanks in general, not only DK’s (but not all of them though, that’s true) have some real difficulties in perceiving healer’s task or entire party or raid, for that matter… I am still a little low level at the moment, a level 64 BM hunter, to go in a raid yet, but I can only imagine it gets even worse compared to a dungeon run.

I remember a tank who went to Zul’Farrak’s top of the pyramid when we had to escort the NPC’s down the stairs; we all had agreed to fight on top of stairs but obviously the tank had a different plan, although never said a word, so when everyone said “ready” he just rushed down in the middle of all of them mobs, and of course he died after aggro-ing everything he could. “It’s THE HEALER!!! His fault” he screamed. “I did that everytime in another party and he kept me alive.”

Of course we never could convince him that this was “this party”, not “the other one” so he left angry calling us n00bz and all sorts…

But there seems to be an “opposition front” against DK’s in general, I always wondered why, maybe I should start one and see for myself.

I haven’t had a lot of experience in PUG raids, but most raids everyone shows consideration for others – that’s a key element of the RL’s job.

I am tank/heal dual spec, but I still sometimes forget to check that people have mana before starting a fight /blush

  • Ataraxis

To be honest I am a bit apprehensive when I start thinking I’ll have to be raiding soon, PUG’s just don’t really cut it for me… at least from what I heard from other players, the bad experiences in those far surpass the good times..

    /shudder

  • Ataraxis I’ve been getting the opposite. My good experiences outweight the bad, but when it’s bad… it’s FAILPUG bad. Which is comedy gold, so I win either way.

I always try to get the 2 frostbadges a day, they are very worth it. But after that I will not even bother with the random pugs at all. I can see that the dungeon tool is a good addition to most players, but I realize that there are less skilled players out there who will never see a high level dungeon because of the behaviour you get in pugs.

A few days back I saw a post on the wow-europe forums about making a little guild with people who are very bad at instancing and wow generally but who are good at heart. It really got me interested and as yet I am in the talks of getting such a guild going, since I think that there are more players who just want to do dungeons in a easy slow pace. Nowadays it seems rushing instances is the only way to complete instances.

    Nicely written btw!

HAHA I had the same problem the other night, I finally got time to team with my brother on an alt and went to a random (I was on a 76 disc priest, my brother 71 hunter) so we got the nexus which was cool.
Started the dungeon I should of known it was going to end up badly as soon as we entered the door the tank had already run off and started on the first mob before buffs…

Anyhow we continue, with the tank chain pulling and getting a beating in the mean time I manage to keep him alive thankfully I think due to the fact I was 76 if I was 71 we would of failed so bad. But I finally get time to drink as I am running on 2k mana, so I sit down tell the dk to wait a sec but does he.. No mr invinicble runs off pulls the commander trash mobs, You know the ones where the alliance/horde boss is? pulls not just the first lot, but all upto the boss…… I manage to keep him my bro and myself alive long enough to kill the boss. As you can expect my mana is like 1% now so instead of giving me chance to drink the tank runs off whilst im half way through reviving the lazy dps who didnt release.

Then we get out of that corridor into the section of 1 humanoid 2 demon dog mobs who patrol, he pulls them along with the 4 extra mobs at the top of the ramp.. Ignoring my please of could I get some mana? and dont go mad pulling I have no mana + these mobs silence….

We some how survive… so without hesitation he runs headlong into the mobs in front of the boss, then pulls the boss when they die straight away leaving me with again 2k mana(doing well so far). We down the boss, so I finally sit down drink ignoring the idiotic dk who has already run off and pulled 2 more groups + a pat… jump up with full mana, just get to the dk (within range but ofcourse out of line of sight as he disappeared around the corner to get more mobs :S) and see him die… to them indure “STUPID F**K HEALER LEARN TO KEEP UP” To which if people know me I replied in a similer manner off – “…. Ok there is something on this game to which we refer to as mana… which we need to use spells, a healer uses this magic thing called mana to cast his healing spells a healer without any mana = no heals so let me get some mana up”.

In the end after 5minutes of him being an idiot, someone voted to kick him from the group it failed, then another vote went up straight away and that succeeded so I guess the others agreed.

10minutes later, he ends up back in the damn group *sigh* pulls two groups and leaves the instance, Burning blade I hate you :( …. except that other dk who was from his realm Jsparrow / Fearlesspirate he was nice, and also brought his alt char to finish off the instance :) .

So lets all stay away from low level DK tanks!

Damn thats a wall of text….

There’s something about 12 year olds who just can’t resist choosing the class with, “Death”, in their name lol. I remember a certain VoA-25 run where we had 5 Death Knights with the name, “Death” + some random word.
