I’m getting high up on my soapbox today to vent my anger at those people who make my eyes bleed on a daily basis, you know who you are, dirge lovers, anal fanatics and Chuck Norris fanbois.
Firstly lets define spam
Spam is the abuse of electronic messaging systems to send unsolicited bulk messages indiscriminately.
Or in the case of WoW the use of a public chat channel to annoy people by repeating messages or linking totally nonsensical item followed by a comment and/or class ability to create something that’s supposed to be amusing, but fails worse than Bernard Manning at the MOBO’s.
Different types of spam

This isn’t as offensive as some other types I will cover but nevertheless people should understand that repeating………….

Is not going to encourage any decent player into joining, rather they will just put you on ignore and carry on with their business. Rather limit yourself to using /LFR or maybe just slow down on the regularity you hit your macro button.
Guild recruitment
While we all understand that gaining new members is a priority for any Guild, advertising your bank slots and tabard every 2 minutes is just not going to produce that great an outcome. At best you may get an enquiry or two, at worst you will just create a bad reputation for your Guild from the outset.
Dirge
Apparently, it started with someone at an unknown RP realm who intended to sell this weapon with a more commercialistic approach:
“Making [Dirge] with or without your materials. get yours today! It’s [Dirge]tastic!”.
Shortly after people started to use this concept by making words of their own, usually swear words and has now progressed into people simply spamming the item link.
It’s stupid, annoying and utterly pointless, don’t do it.
Anal
Sometimes I wonder if people actually know what they are spamming about and if they did would they continue doing it. Apart from the fact it is once again repetitive and boring I have also been told that “it feels like a shit going backwards” who would want to promote that!
Unlike [Dirge], there are many different spells and items that can be used with it, varying wildly from “Anal [Dirge]” to “Anal Herbalism” even “Anal Professional Grand Master” always first for my report button you anal spammers perhaps need to try a bit, the question is will you enjoy it as much as you seem to enjoy spamming it.
The good news
This addon will clear your trade chat and I love its name! Asshat will deliver you from all the asshats in WoW or a more extreme method can be found here.
The moral here is think before you type or just turn off /2 altogether and avoid the temptation.

I have not noticed too much on Horde now and then you have a a /2 moron festival. Lately everytime I am in a city Trade is going on about GS
but still better than anal spam.
The moronic anal/norris spam is annoying, but I tend to ignore it, what really annoys me is
XXXXXXX guild now recruiting, we have 2 guild bank slots and a tabard.
I mean whores cares about guild banks and tabbards anymore. Very few people use GBs apart from occifers and GLs, because mostly you can’t use em and they are tradionally full of utter shit that someone couldn’t be arsed vendoring.
Also 20 repeat of LF Tank/healer for XXXX. By all means once every 5 mins or so and Yes we see you are looking, but clearing the chatlog with 20 copies of the same shit is gonna get you ignored. Also why couldn’t you put yourself in LFR, takes 2 seconds.
Dont think anyone uses LFR. I know I’ve peeked in a couple of times and it’s always empty.
Spammenot blocks everyone on the entire realm instantly when i use it, including myself!

I occasionally see one person looking for VoA on LFR, that’s about it really. Shame because LFR is a nice system, but useless since nobody uses it.
On the subject of GS versus anal, at least GS is an actual game-related issue with consequences for players, even if it is ‘debated’ (and I use the term loosely) in the usual ineloquent manner of trade chat. Anal spam is just overplayed and wore out whatever humour it had ages ago.
As bad as GS/guild recruitment/LF spam is, it can never be as bad as anal spam.
I think the chuck norris jokes spam is ok..it can make me giggle every now and then. Dirge and Anal spam are just retarded.
They once made a Chuck Norris toilet paper, but it wouldn’t take sh*t from anybody!

Just grab spammenot addon and not only will it block a lot of these it also reports them at the same time
Usually I get rid of the anal spam by massively flaming the player(s) that try to start it..
but sometimes.. sometimes… there are.. just.. to many *sits in a corner and crys*
The “ninja”-spam always annoys me: people accusing somebody of being a ninja and then continuing to do so for hours at a stretch…
