I think no matter what happens the first raid of Cata will be more difficult than Naxx regardless. Naxx was in effect a copy and paste job, some changes here and there but largely remained the same, hence, players knew what to expect. Ulduar changed that bringing in new mechanics, hard modes, and whatever else is in there.

While it certainly won’t be ICC raid difficulty if they continue in hard modes in the first raids then they have a chance for difficult scaling to be done in that raid alone. Another thing to consider is the changes to the 10/25 mechanics and how that will affect the difficult.

Rofl, always makes me laugh when I see that.

Even better than the guilds they’re in will ‘never’ see the hard mode content, but still struggle on the first end-wing boss on normal.

I’m just looking forward to the top guild clearing the content in a couple of weeks, suddenly followed by every forum troll deciding content they haven’t even done is too easy and Blizzard are pandering to the scrubs etc. etc.

I’m not really too fussed about the first raid being easy – it’s a chance to do something different and flex our new muscles again at the top of our game.
Max level in a new raid is always a good feeling, regardless of how easy it is – it’s your first chance out, like a kid let out alone in their new car.

I have a feeling Cata is going to be all about rediscovering Azeroth (well obviously), but I also think Blizz will gradually re-do all old instances and grade them to heroic standards for those who want them, and leave the classic versions for those who don’t – a bit like phasing perhaps.

I also think that a lot of players are probably going to return soon, if not for the pre-expansion content then for the xpac itself. What’s out there right now? Red Dead Redemption – fine if you own the platform. What else? Nothing that competes on the MMO front, as far as I know.

Blizz may be shooting themselves in the foot with Starcraft 2/Diablo 3/Cata all looking at imminent release – people may wait a bit before committing to a pre-order of one in favour of the other potentially being released.

Lots of factors here. My attitude is ‘wait and see what happens, and enjoy the game regardless’.
