I like cheese, reading faster than a speeding bullet, and WoW.

The latter is what got me into this mess. I’ve been leading the Mongooses since April 2007 (with a bit of a break to move in with family, get fat, and have a nervous breakdown last year, it’s all good) and much stress they have given me!

It all started when a friend got the game, and had me sit by his side through his first night of playtime referencing the manual whenever he got stuck. “How do I sit down?” “Do you think I need to level more before attacking the level 5 in that cave?” etc. He was not a natural gamer, and it was amusing to me to see that concepts such as mana were completely foreign to him. Being a fan of the Warcraft games for years, and equipped with my knowledge of wtf a mana bar was, I vowed that one day this game would be mine.

Cue new boyfriend and his internet connection. Finally, I can play online games. It took me about a month to convince him he really wanted to try this WoW thing he’d heard so much about, and another month until we were both so addicted we had to buy an extra PC and account so we could play together!

In hindsight we perhaps jumped into the whole guild-forming thing sooner than we should have, starting up FM just after the release of Burning Crusade when we were on the cusp of entering Outland for the first time. We struggled to keep anyone of a remotely high level for a while, as you do, but we knew that only letting mint people in would pay off in the end. And so it has, I’m now the proud leader of an excellent group of people who are obsessed with achievements, skilled fishermen, who don’t raid enough to stress me out and argue like old women deciding who pays the bill when it comes to trying to pass on loot for each other.  (Now ex-)boyfriend in question has also kept his officer spot, though the only way to get him to actually read guild chat is by linking [King's Defender] at the poor Welsh idiot.

During TBC I attempted, as part of the road to world domination, to unite some of the realm’s smaller guilds as a raiding alliance. This ultimately fell flat due to only 2 or 3 of the signed up guilds really taking part, but on the bright side we have kept in touch with said people (and recruited some of them) so it’s not all bad and you never know it may rear it’s ugly head once more for Cataclysm. I’d like to take this opportunity to publicly say: Order of the Serpent, you are awesome.

Next up for “the cause” is of course this blog, where we pretend to want nothing more than to bring a spirit of community to the realm and keep people up to date with what’s going on, but really we want fame, and lots of it.

When not dealing with 8 whispering guildies at once, I can mostly be found standing about on my main, Holyshell, in Dalaran wondering what exactly I logged in to do.

IRL I am NOT a geordie, I just live in Newcastle. I will not say “why aye man” for you.
