I started playing in December 2007, one of my work colleagues was constantly bitching about her “waster boyfriend” spending all his time on some dodgy game pretending he was an elf. It was affecting their sex life, she was on the verge of leaving him, she even whispered the offer of “crazy blow jobs” in his ear whilst raiding and was met with a blank expression and the response “how much DKP?”  I thought wow, this shit has to be good.

My first char was a Druid, which like a idiot I rolled on a US server by mistake. After queuing at the fair old age of 28, with a ensemble of teenagers and geeks with spotty faces, mortified by my own addiction, wishing the ground would swallow me up and in various shades of pink, I became the not so proud owner of World of Warcraft.

Almost two years later I find myself firstly enriched with an entirely new vocabulary…. for example.

OMG: Over my grey-matter. Used to indicate the individual in question doesn’t understand, possibly because you’ve used a multi-syllable word or referred to matters they are unfamiliar with such as politics, books, or engagement with the real world.

But also the fearless Guild Master of Forsaken Enlightenment *Hi guys love you all even if your company has turned me predominantly bloody grey!*

I am the puppet master for my main, a human Warlock entitled Tethane and have a regular menagerie of alts all of which I know I should dust off at some point and play.

I’m not going to bore you with the ins and outs of my playtime or the guild, if your interested the details are in the guilds section. No, what I am going to tell you is why I have continued to play WoW instead of taking up a more respectable activity such as say “tramp baiting” (see notes for details on this ever popular pastime.)

Well its simple, and the key to this game that some people seem to forget, there are people behind the pixels. I have met some amazing and inspirational people on this server, and also some of the biggest twats ever, I have seen acts of pure generosity and acts of extreme selfishness, its like every section of the human psyche is spread out before me in trade and in raids (pugged or otherwise) and because these people have relative animosity their true colours come through. I suppose you could called me a personality voyeur.

Anyway, that’s a little about me and how I came to be here, now to mention a few people that moulded me into the heartless pessimist I am today!

All of FE, especially Anakes, Sycamorechaz, Pretoriah, Dawnrazor, Kilkal, Raiyen, Majikthise, Sreedna and Caliban (my Officers and dear friends.) Galmore, just cos you make me laugh so much and /gquit if I say repulsive things, Vinna for being a misunderstood amazing friend and PVP legend, Holyshell for being my cohort and now blog partner in crime, Gadril and Cassanunda for being the first two people I met in WoW (even though you later left me!) Xlight for being an inspiration leader and your guildies Milluiell, Seen, Humbin and Medousa who I have had hours of pleasure teamed with, Nisala for the floaty style RP amusement, Opteron for being the huge spacegoat dressed in epics who did nothing but encourage me, Warlocomotif for befriending a lost little lock and turning her into a crazy killing machine, Erland for being the FE mascot and letting me pull your tail when you had one, Gaaz for spamming me on login with things like “GTFO OUT” which always makes me chuckle, there are so many more I cant mention you all.
