It seems Alliance have pissed off the Horde a little more than normal, never adhering to the “Keep off the grass” signs in Oggy and behaving in a totally inappropriate way, finally one has cracked, (although we all know he cracked a long time ago!) Recent Alliance defector Awoken has issued a call to arms on both Horde and Alliance sides for some good old fashion World PvP funnage. In his own words I present to you Awoken!

So like I used to be this big asshole alliance guy:

Used to roll with a bunch of assholes also:

We used to do some asshole world PvP raid stuff back in the day:

I had reached the pinnacle of assholeness…but there was still one final, unspeakable act of assyness to commit….

On horde we’re mature, we’re patient and caring – when hunters ask for a good PVP spec in trade, we never reply with “RESTO!11″. When we even smell an outbreak of [Anal] jokes in Trade chat, we’re on it. Misuse of trade chat, achievements or gearscore? We’re on it, armed with polite whispers. We’re so nice that it took me one hour to convince a Warlock and Moonkin to dance around this AFK Draenai – a BLATENT act of defiance against the Alliance of this server. But they did it. You know why?

WE’RE PISSED

You little alliance punks think you can just walk up to Orgrimmar and start killing people! How many times have we told you damn kids to stay off our damn lawn. HOW MANY TIMES? WELL IT’S ONE TIME TOO MANY!

The horde have had enough. No more giving good spec advice in trade chat. We don’t even care about [Anal] jokes anymore. I think we’re so damn pissed we’re going to start asking for at least 4k gearscore + achievement for VOA FREAKING 10 MAN.

It’s on now. Scores of you damn kids fell in Ironforge and Stormwind. Your shitty dwarf king lies dead. And it’s not over, we’re going to settle this with an oldskool outdoor battle.

WE CHALLENGE YOU TO:

A 40 vs 40 Outdoor PVP battle!

Date: Sunday 16th May 2010
Time: 5PM Server time sharp
Place: See the map

I shall restate the rules CLEARLY:

1.) Alliance are to take the flight path to Astraanar in Ashenvale and then run through the Talondeep Path to end up on the CORRECT side of the battle. If you fly to Stonetalon Peak not only will you look RETARDED as you awkwardly attempt to run to the correct side of the fight, but we will also leave because we will assume you are trying to flank us.

2.) Before the battle we will log Alliance and do a /who Stonetalon. If there are more than 40 (we shall account for retard hangerons) we will leave. So if there are like 80 level 80 alliance in Stonetalon, we’re gone. Feel free to do the same for us.

So as the coolest WoW boss ever once said…

Let the games begin!

I’m crap at PvP I can’t and won’t deny it, but sometimes when getting pummelled in Wintergrasp, pausing for a cup of tea whilst letting a Rogue dance about and rip me and my crappy PvP robe to shreds, I think, wouldn’t it be nice to have some arena gear so I have some sort of chance, but that’s never going to happen.

BUT WAIT! There may be an answer! It comes in the form of the cheeky and notorious Vinnayo and his arena boosting services.

Who are you? tell us a bit about yourself!

Hello everyone, my name is Vincent I am 22 years old and I live in The Netherlands. I’m studying to become a social cultural worker with specialisation in music and troubled teens (think about chavs and girls that get pregnant at the age of 14 and offer you BJ’s in exchange for weed!)

I can recommend this study to everyone since your work experience consists of hanging out with them, playing games on the Xbox/PS3, making music with them and sometimes we even get drunk together! Now who wouldn’t want that?

In game however I play a rogue called Vinnayo (formerly Vinna) and I’m a certified trade spammer. I have been playing a rogue for roughly 3 years now and my biggest interest in this game is PvP.

How long have you been into PvPing and how did you start?

I have been into PvP’ing ever since I hit level 10 and entered the battleground with my brother and cousin. Warsong Gulch wasn’t enough for us so after buying all sorts of potions, making over 80 bandages and discussing all kind of strategies we decided to go to Crossroads, my brother had read something about it on the internet and told us that would be the place to PvP. We had just dinged level 17.

We spent ages waiting outside crossroads for someone that was equally or lower level then we were. Myself and my cousin (both rogues) would hide in some bushes and my brother would /taunt the players and enable his PvP. So…after 20 minutes the first player showed up, a Troll Mage. He attacked my brother who was playing a squishy priest and we sprint in spamming all of our cool downs and killed the Troll. All 3 of us burst out in laughter and PvP became my passion.

In the beginning I thought I would never be any good and considered giving up on PvP. But then it happened, as I was reading the forums for hints and tips I came across this movie called World of Roguecraft, I watched all 3 episodes and finally I had a goal in WoW to become as awesome as the rogue in World of Roguecraft and surpass him. I learnt a lot from his movies and I entered the BG’s again, this time with success, I got the hang of it and eventually began to end up first place on the scoreboards.

TBC came out and so did arena’s, I decided to level up to 70 as I liked the arena concept. Once I hit 70 I bought a 2v2 team with my real life friend Sapulidi and we played a retarded double rogue setup, dropping way down to 1300 and eventually we agreed that we should probably improve our gear!

After a few months we decided to try again and it went surprisingly well, the new season just started and we played it up to 1600 and we were really happy with our achievement. People however would laugh at my ratings and call me “noob” or “FAILURE” and as I couldn’t stand that I decided to work away to get higher ratings.

Driven by this will to prove myself and the will to be the best rogue on Emerald Dream I started playing arena every evening for 4 hours and I my ratings increasing from 1500 to 1800. The people that would laugh at my ratings now lost to me in duels and it felt great!

Season 3 came and I got officially arena addicted, more and more high rated people would notice me duelling outside Ironforge and thus I got asked to join their teams with increasing frequency. At one point this priest asked me to play 2v2 with him, at first I declined as I was playing 2v2 with my Girlfriend but after he nagged me for weeks I gave in. This probably has been one of the best decision I could have made.

The priest in question was Grieve and we hit 2170 rating in 2v2 after about 400 arena games which back then was about 150 rating short of getting Gladiator. When we played 2v2 together it was great fun, Grieve is probably one of the most hilarious players I have ever met on this game. Of course we raged at each other at times but we always stuck together, we would drop 150 rating in one night and be so frustrated but then the following day we would gain 200 rating and laugh about all the crazy shit we pulled off.

Toward the end of that very season Grieve some how tricked the Mage I had been wanting to do Rogue/Mage/Priest (RMP) with for ages, the almighty Gladiator Xidrr. I have a huge amount of respect for Xidrr as a player, playing with him was a great honour. We worked up to 2000 rating in 3v3 with only 2 losses. After that it felt like everything went really fast, the PvP community noticed how me Grieve and Xidrr did extremely well and I started to get known by more and more players on Emerald Dream. I earned my spot and people started whispering me asking if I could boost them. I felt honoured, but more about that later.

In season 4 my Girlfriend cheated on me, I lost my job because of extended absence, I simply couldn’t be bothered with work anymore and then I sort of found comfort in playing arena. With no Girlfriend or parents pushing me to get a new job I had loads of free time, at one point I would wake up at 3pm and go to bed at 6am spending all that time playing arena, I was totally hooked, my entire life evolved around arena matches. Looking back at it I think it’s really sad and pathetic.

At the end of Season 4 I was playing like a machine and I even made it to the Gladiator cut-off. If it wasn’t for a certain Paladin who couldn’t stand it that the team was performing way better with me then they did with him I would have got Gladiator that season. It happened to be that he was the leader of the team and that he felt it was necessary to kick me from the team to force the others to play with him, which they didn’t cause he sucked. I am still after the Gladiator title and I won’t stop playing WoW until I get it.

Why do you do it, what’s in it for you?

I do it mainly because it’s the most fun thing to do in this game, it’s way more challenging then anything else and I love the competitive aspect of it. I am a born winner whenever something involves competition I just have to win, kind of a bad habit I guess. Also I am very lucky to have 2 amazing partners for 2v2 and 3v3. Playing arena always leads to laughter whenever I play with Grieve or Xidrr. It also is a very nice way to relax after school or work. Sometimes I also play whenever I get back from the pub in the weekend, which leads to even more hilarity at times.

Can you describe what boosting is?

Boosting in arena simply means getting a certain person a certain rating. People want these ratings to get a certain arena item with a rating restriction. Most of the time they either have to little experience to get the rating themselves or they are just lazy.

How does it work?

There are 2 ways of boosting:

The first one is the most common, I will join a players team and take over the leadership, playing with them until we get the rating they want. While doing this I will tell the player I am playing with what to do, I also tell them all kind of tactics and tricks that they may have never realised. Once the rating is achieved I get gold and I pass the leadership back. ( It’s important to ask for leadership as people can easily scam you ). This can take a while, depending how well the person listens and understands commands

The second one is my favourite one, I will log on the persons character and I will ask Xidrr to log his secret mage (that no one knows about) to play, we share the loot of course. This way of boosting is really fast and it gets you the rating you want in less then 4 hours. It is however hard to earn the trust of someone, I have never stolen something from a character I have boosted. In fact I played a rogue that had more than 100k spread across all of his characters once.

How much do people pay?

It depends on what rating the person wants and the way he/she wants to get boosted. Most of the time it’s between 1000 and 3000 Gold.

What kind of people want to be boosted?

Hmmm that’s a tough one, I would say all kinds of people but I noticed that most of the time it’s people that enjoy doing BG’s but they just get 2 shotted because of their gear. Also I have had a few people that just don’t have enough time to get the rating they want. And then some others just want to get boosted so they can pretend they got to the rating themselves which makes it easier for them to find better partners.

What is the highest you have boosted someone to?

Ermm, I boosted Xidrr and Grieve to 2380! (JOKE) The highest rating I boosted to by playing just my char and the boosted player is 2050 rating. The highest rating I have boosted someone to by me playing his/her char is 2200 rating.

Isn’t this against the rules?

Boosting someone isn’t against the rules, account sharing however is but that isn’t my problem!

How much do you think you have earned from boosting and how many characters have you boosted?

Hmmmm…it must be somewhere between 15k and 20k gold. I think I have boosted over 30 people.

Do you have any funny stories?

I won’t forget this young boy I was boosting, his Dad played WoW aswell. At one point we met his Father’s team in 2v2. We won and a few seconds later I got whispered by the Father saying he was going to report me for boosting his son, I wished him good luck and said that I thought he was pathetic for not wanting his son to get higher ratings then him.

A couple of games later we faced his dad again and we won. I could hear the dad going mental in the background, throwing stuff around and shouting at this young boy on Ventrilo, I know it’s evil but I couldn’t help crying from laughter.

Also I think it’s quite funny that Grieve, the priest I am still playing with was a guy that I was supposed to be boosting. Quite ironic how he got Gladiator and I didn’t!

Ok well maybe Love is in the Air was the other week, but I was gallivanting around London at the time so you’ll just have to make do.

I’ve been half of a gaming couple, and known a lot more, but couples who actually met in World of Warcraft tend to be thinner on the ground. In all my time playing the game I think I’ve met a grand total of 3. Anyway the plan was to hunt down one of these couples and show the world that not all guildie-flirting is doomed to fail, but to my surprise it was difficult to find volunteers. It would appear that hooking up with someone in your guild usually leads to drama, and two of the couples I asked didn’t want to come forward for fear of reopening old wounds. It’s sad to hear that people will concentrate on the potential downsides of guildies getting together, and worry that there’ll be favouritism and jealousy, rather than being glad that two friends have made each other happy. Then again I’m often accused of being a big hippie so maybe that’s just me.

Aaaanyway, just as I was starting to get desperate and worrying about explaining my lack of an article to Tethane (she’s scary when she’s mad!), Thindra and Zarrak walked into my life and Thindra was more than happy to save the day! Read on for passion, intrigue and a rather disappointing lack of drama…

So in your own words, how did you first meet?

It was in the guild Koh i Noor, actually it was in Molten Core and we were fighting over a silly thing like who will banish what. The year was 2006. Back then we were both playing warlocks.

How did it turn from playing together into being together? Did one of you decide to start flirting, or both realise at the same time that you were suddenly more than friends?

This is actually quite funny I was actually interested in another guy in the guild, I was flirting with the other guy a lot and then the day came when I decided to go and see him. Then the bastard chickened out and Zarrak happened to be the shoulder I cried on. This was February 2007, for some reason we started talking about everything and ended up flirting. I was married at the time so no promises were made. The summer of 2007 Zarrak came to visit me and my husband, while my husband was inside playing WoW we went out and enjoyed ourselves. Then the sparks came and I made up my mind to divorce my husband and be together with Zarrak. (Sidenote: My marriage was about to fall apart anyway, just needed a kick in the bum to get the paperwork done).

Had either of you had online relationships like this in the past?

No, not really. Just some kind of roleplaying flirting in WoW.

Did your relationship cause any trouble for you in-game?

No not yet Well my ex didn’t get that happy about it so we have each other on ignore! Works just fine. Shell’s note: You could at least have made up some interesting drama!

Are you ever embarrassed to tell non-gamers how you met?

No all our friends know the truth.

Last question, is there any advice you would give to other players managing a possibly long-distance in-game romance?

Actually this is the best relationship I ever had, we knew almost everything about each other before we met. So that Zarrak is a bit shorter than me, that I’m taller and have a few extra kilos on my body didnt matter that much. Having a long-distance relationship is also a lot about trusting each other. And now when we live together I think we trust each other more than our friends trust each other, I mean since we lived in different countries we had to trust each other 100% and we couldnt really check up on each other – I know many of my friends check on their guys….. “Oh are you at that pub is my boyfriend there??? -Ok, is he ok? Keep an eye on him ” and so on.

Conclusion style effort

So it seems there’s some sort of taboo on game-based relationships and marriages insofar as the majority of people (going from this one experience) don’t like to talk about it in case someone gets angry all over again. In light of that, thankyou Thindra for saving me at the last minute and gratz to you and Zarrak for making it work. Do we have any readers with a bit of in-game romance to restore my faith in humanity?

There are some very well known WoW-based studies out there, and we’ve probably all filled in at least one poll or questionnaire about our favourite pastime. There are reports on our avatar choices, our “addictions”, our online relationships and a lot else besides.

What you may not know is that we’re harbouring one of these research types on our very own realm. Not one of those reactionary negative types we hear so much about, but someone who genuinely enjoys the game and just happens to have an opportunity to delve a little deeper. I present to you…Monava.

Firstly then, tell us a bit about yourself

My real name is Ladan and I’m in my second year of a research PhD in the Geography Department at Durham University (located in the beautiful Northeast of England). My professional background is in writing and editing (my undergraduate degree is in English and Chinese literature) but one of my hobbies is gaming. I was even a GameMaster for another online game for a number of years. This love of gaming, fascination with the people who play, interest in all sides of online gaming, combined with my professional skills as a researcher, editor, and writer led me to want to put a “real face” on what MMOs are like and why we play them. I was getting tired of a lot of assumptions being made about gamers by non-gamers and a lot of broad, sweeping research that didn’t apply to all game situations.

This interview makes me look very serious but the reality is that I get to spend 3 years having fun studying a game that is part of something big. I feel really lucky and grateful to be doing this.

And a quick intro to your project

My research project relates to studying the MMO raiding culture and how it navigates game space, utilises game functionalities (such as convergent media, addons or UI design), and what broader societal norms it engages to function (such as concepts of team work, competitiveness, and rules) as a subculture. Basically, what this means is that I am trying to study how raiders do things like interact, function, and pursue success in a game like World of Warcraft.

While other researchers have studied how we play MMOs, the negative impacts of games, or how we make decisions as gamers, there hasn’t been much done on actual raiding or raiding culture and sadly much of the research is done by researchers who dabble in the game during their research period and stop once they have collected some data. I feel that as a gamer and raider already myself I get access to more and, hopefully, learn things that mainstream researchers might have a harder time learning.

You transferred from your original realm to ED in early 2007. Was this a conscious decision to find a suitable realm to study or was the decision to base your research on our realm taken after the move?

The latter. While I had been quietly thinking of ways to study and write about gaming for quite some years, I didn’t formally begin my PhD plans until after I had moved to ED. I was on Draenor and it is a great server. I moved for strictly personal reasons relating to friends moving server. I am actually in contact with a few gamers from Draenor and hope to speak to them a little as well in the course of my research.

How did you choose a guild to study?

Choosing to work with Chi was strictly pragmatic. I helped establish Chi over a year ago (the guild was started for those raiders who had less time to raid but still wanted to actively engage in the end content–sort of a casual raiding guild, though I am still not sure if such a thing can exist!) and have been with them ever since. I put out feelers earlier this year to see if they’d be ok with my doing this research and many members were very open-minded and supportive. Basically, I wanted to pick a guild that was working on endgame content and considered itself a raiding guild above all else. The rank of the guild is important, but not crucial to the research. I felt that picking a more “mainstream” guild (rather than trying to work with one of world’s top guilds) would give me a clearer picture of the average raider.

Does knowing they’re being written about affect the raids with Chi, specifically the performance of others when you’re present?

It was a bit of an issue at first! The way the guild members dealt with it was to make jokes by asking me if I was going to use the information against them. (I won’t, of course!) But I suppose over time, it’s just become less of an issue. I did explain my plans on the guild’s site and keep nagging them to go to my research site, though, and some of them are contributing.

Does it affect YOUR performance, for example have you been known to stand in the fire while watching others?

This is a fantastic question. It’s been strange trying to be a player who is researching herself and the gamers alongside her. While I haven’t found myself making too many noobish mistakes because of my research (I make noobish mistakes no matter what I’m doing sadly ), I have found myself struggling with when and how to document observations in the heat of the moment. Originally I wanted to use a recording software or recorder to “speak through” things as I was doing them and it proved too difficult. I realised that I’m no good to a raid if I’m not doing my job, and I realised early on that to be a good researcher of raiding, it required that I be as good a good raider as possible, too.

What is the most interesting thing you feel you’ve learned in the course of your research so far?

So far I’ve found the variation in how people approach raiding to be extremely interesting. This exhibits itself in how we set up our UIs, use addons, use VOIP (or not), and even create our raiding space. And I’m also particularly interested in how strongly raiders feel about this.

And personally I love the fact that we finally have a place where men seem more obsessed with what they are wearing than women.

So how can interested people help?

Right now I’m eager to speak with anyone who would like to discuss their raiding experiences and perspectives with me. I’m also hoping to spend a bit more time with other raiding guilds on the server, observing their raiding, listening to their planning and organizing, and even joining them on a raid or two. I’m really hoping to connect with some Horde guilds, so if any are interested in contributing to my research, I’d love to hear from them. I promise I am very unobtrusive; you won’t even notice me.

Below is my research website and I am looking forward to sharing more tidbits on this fantastic blog, too.

Is there anything else you’d particularly like to add?

I have created a website for people to contribute their thoughts and, hopefully, upload screenshots or other media. Please visit it at www.raidingresearch.co.uk.

I am glad to talk to people in game if they would like. I generally play the characters Monava and Siyma. Throw me a whisper; I don’t bite!

Also, in the spring I am planning to do some in-person focus groups and interviews with raiders around the UK. If you are interested in being interviewed, let me know.

Thanks to the geniuses of Emerald Dreamers for this opportunity to share what I’m doing with the fine people of ED. This is a lovely site and I’m particularly attuned to its sense of humour.

Now you may not know but Emerald Dream harbours some amazingly creative talents amongst all of the pixel people. Whilst browsing the official forums I discovered two such types in the forms of a couple of shifty looking Undeady types!

Introducing here Necrall and Necralla (aka Scott and Laura Atkins) the bad boy/girl creators of “A Cup of Tea.”

Necrall – bad boy? Please… I’m a goody two shoes carebear!

Firstly guys, thank you for agreeing to have a little chat with me, its always great to hear about people doing fun and interesting things on Emerald Dream, I personally have really enjoyed looking through your back catalogue of comics, and look forward to more people on the realm enjoying them.

So where do these creative juices flow from, are your jobs/backgrounds in the creative field?

Necrall – I’m a games designer, so as such I need to be the creative mind behind games, not just story, but art direction, mechanics, controls and overall feel or atmosphere of the game. How this relates to the comic is I come up with the initial ‘joke’ and then expand on it with props, stances, speech and delivering of the punchline then let Laura do her work.

Necralla – Chocolate. I eat exorbitant amounts of chocolate and that’s where it comes from.

Necrall – Laura… you’re umm leaking some creative juices. Oh wait no, just drool.

How do you come up with the storybook concepts for the comic, what are your influences?

Necrall – LOL MEME. No really, a lot of them are based on internet memes, Zergling rush, the All your base..

Necralla – “I had a Necralla, but I eated it” hehe.

Necrall – Aye, the lolcat one. The characters are all The Firm members, some of the concepts, despite being memes, are based on conversations we have in Gchat or on our forums.

Necralla – Sometimes they continue, sometimes they’re just random. Depends on how we feel.

Necrall – Murky was Necralla’s murloc pet, we came up with that due to her love of the cute harbingers of death. Later on we then won the Blizzard 2008 Valetnine’s competition so now Neca has a real little pink Gurky.

What mediums do you choose to use for the production of your pieces?

Necralla – I used to draw in pencil then ink it. After that we scanned it in and Scott coloured it in Paint Shop Pro.

Necrall – The early stuff was awful. I spent more time cleaning up Laura’s lines than colouring. I used Paint Shop Pro 6 and I used various filler and grabber tools, they freaked out if lines didn’t connect up so I hads to fix all the loose lines before colouring. We used to save it in JPG but I really didn’t like how pixelly and blurry the images turned out, so we put the comic on hold till we found a better way.

Necralla – I use a WACOM Bamboo drawing pad, it’s a nice big A5 size compared to what I used to have. It’s huge! Like the size of my wee laptop. I use Photopshop 7 for all of it. The lines get drawn there then I colour it with lots of layers. The sketches are all really scribbly and pink then I go over it properly in black. I put all the base colours down, then my shadows then highlights with blurring. Lots of blurring, I dislike cel-shading.

Necrall – I spend my time now doing design work and making my own games, so my colouring skills go unused. Thus Laura’s better at it than me now and I have to admit Photoshop makes it look easier than how I was going about it with masking and all that nonsense.

I myself work in the Creative industries so I know what a WACOM pad is, for those that don’t would you care to elaborate?

Necralla – A WACOM tablet is a big piece of plastic that you use a pen shaped thingy to scribble on and it magically appears on your screen. It makes me think back to when I was in art college doing still life. We weren’t allowed to look at the paper only the object, I found that really hard. You have to use a Wacom like that as you’re looking at the screen constantly.

How do you compare the use of digital mediums and the more traditional use of pots of paint, do you favour either and why?

Necrall – I prefer Digital. I’m not a very good or accurate artist, so being able to undo my mess is a necessity (Ctrl + Z FTW). While I don’t do any art on paper, I do enjoy building and painting miniatures. I’m a slacker though so haven’t touched my Warhammer 40K models in a couple of years.

Necralla – I like traditional, but I take forever to do them. There’s paintings from three or four years ago that I haven’t finished yet. I’m too much of a perfectionist always going over lines, then I ruin the picture and have to start over. But I like digital because I change colours to what I want, delete lines and go back to what I had before.

Necrall – In other words indulge your need to spend two or three hours doing one line.

Necralla – Yes to make it perfect. My mum and dad always said they’d rather have something made than bought, think that was more when you’re little and don’t have any money. So I used to make their birthday cards and Christmas cards and anniversary cards every year, I found it fun so now I do it for everybody. Although Scott get’s the special ones.

Necrall – People look forward to her cards more than the presents, seriously! They’re always personal like putting the person in a funny situation like dressed up as a Thundercat or her dad doing gardening wrong by planting himself alongside his pumpkins to be ‘one with the pumpkin’.

I like to do my research on people before I interview them, and SHOCK I found a photo of Necrall playing what looks like a PSP on his wedding day! We know you play WoW what other games do you guys partake in and do they have any influence on the artwork you produce? (I’m not a stalker honest!)

Necrall – Stalker fail. It was a DS with Pokemon Leaf Green. I like a lot of games. I love RPG’s, FPS and RTS the most. Though I’ve been known to dabble in a lot of Puzzler, Casual and flash games too. I really love the Indie development scene and what they produce. I gladly buy short £5 games just to support them. The work I see in various games inspires my own designs and own stories but plays little in the comics I write.

Necralla – I don’t think games have an influence on my artwork, I love looking at everyone elses art, I spend each night looking through new deviants and the artists I have on my feedreader. When I’m not playing WoW I’d be playing Scrabble or Boggle, little silly games that require no concentration whatsoever.

Necrall – That’s because your mind can’t concentrate on anything not chocolate or pink related.

Necralla – You make Laura crying face :’(

You both have kindly agreed to be contributors to Emerald Dreamers, with “A Cup to Tea” owning a regular spot, can you tell us what we have to look forward to over the next few months!

Necrall – A Cup of Tea was originally done as an in-joke comic for The Firm featuring Firmlings. Heck even the name is an in-joke from my very first raid in The Firm in Karazhan where I served Moroes a cup of tea… bag. We’ll probably continue with Firmling characters but with jokes everyone can appreciate. In other words JOO GET LULZ.

Necralla – Whatever Scott bribes me with real life cups of tea to draw. I try not to venture too far into Scott’s mind, I’ll get lost in there.

Necrall – *lost in thought*

The latest Cup of Tea is here for your pleasure…..

Most of us half by accident and half by action have completed the “Explorer” achievement, added a new title and tabard to our collection and felt a little sensation of self satisfaction that comes from spamming guild chat. However for Dorä, a level one human Paladin, its not quite as simple as mounting up and racing around uncovering previously unexplored territory.

Nooooo for Dorä is aiming to be the first level one with the Explorer title, with NO help, that means soloing, no portals, summoning or multi person mounts, the only exception is one portal to Dalaran so he can access Outland and a couple of summons to the unreachable areas in Outland such as Ogri’la, Netherwing Ledge and Skettis.

From the 3rd November and in between an Officer role and busy raiding schedule Dorä has already achieved:

[Explore Elwynn Forest]
[Explore Westfall]
[Explore Duskwood]
[Explore Deadwind Pass]
[Explore Swamp of Sorrows]
[Explore Blasted Lands]
[Explore Redridge Mountains]
[Explore Burning Steppes]
[Explore Searing Gorge]
[Explore Badlands]
[Explore Loch Modan]
[Explore Dun Morogh]
[Explore Wetlands]
[Explore Arathi Highlands]
[Explore Hillsbrad Foothills]

With the grand total of 456 deaths so far and patience pushed to the limit I asked Dorä why he has set this seemingly impossible task for himself.

“It was just one of those “good idea at the time” things, and now that I’ve started…I find it kind of relaxing really, I’m not sure if anyone else has done it, but I haven’t found any yet, the only low levels with it have been boosted by friends. It feels nice to be doing something different and of course, there is a lot of support in the guild which keeps me going in the more time consuming areas…so yes, no portals, summons, mounts, hearthstones, flight paths, mob clearing or haxx…see you when I get there!”

Is there an Emerald Dream player you want to know more about? Do you have any titbits about crazy people who have shrines to their characters, grinding away for the “Insane” title or perhaps information about an amazing achievement in PVE or PVP? Email us! Famous for 5 Minutes, takes these players and divulges their activities to the realm, however weird and wonderful they might be. If you meet them out and about give them a /cheer!
