Greetings! Cynicism here and before you ask, yes, the name is appropriate. I didn’t look up a random word in a dictionary and come across it like some people you see in game who have a name that looks cool but probably means ‘Sanitary Towel’ in Swahili. I’m here to write about the world-class raiding community from a personal point of view as most people have become tired of being curled in the foetal position in a darkened corner while I rant. Hopefully you will enjoy this rather mild introduction to these articles and will be prompted to read the next ones as they come out. Please be assured that it will most likely only get worse as it goes on so have a stiff drink at the ready and let us begin!
Jaundiced View: World firsts
The Horde are angered!
It seems Alliance have pissed off the Horde a little more than normal, never adhering to the “Keep off the grass” signs in Oggy and behaving in a totally inappropriate way, finally one has cracked, (although we all know he cracked a long time ago!) Recent Alliance defector Awoken has issued a call to arms on both Horde and Alliance sides for some good old fashion World PvP funnage. In his own words I present to you Awoken!
Devil’s Advocate – Do I want WoW to stay as the dominant MMO?
Interesting question I seen on MMO-Champion. Do I want WoW to stay on top?
World of Warcraft is a game I’ve sunk years into and spent a lot of money on, in subscriptions and expansions. I’ve made some very good friends there, friends I’ve carried out of the game and into the real world. I’ve written articles about the game, reviews about it. I’ve written a comic about it and various game design articles about various features of WoW.
I have invested a lot into this game. But do I want it to stay on top?
The answer is No.
Devil’s Advocate – Class Balance
Now we get to something that brings everyone’s blood to a boil at least once. Class Balance. The balance of barricades, the seesaw of strength, the whack-a-mole of warfare, like the game Lights Out.
Elder Holyshell’s guide to Settling Down
So the Lunar Festival is over, and any sort of reference to it is automatically out of date. On the other hand, I spent the last few days of the holiday achieving and didn’t have chance to write this, so let’s just pretend it was supposed to be late in the first place.
A couple of weeks back Khi of the wonderful Tree Burglar set WoW bloggers a challenge.
One of the big parts of this holiday in-game has characters traveling the world to find various elders and pay them a little respect. In return, they pass on a few words that might be wisdom, and you continue on your way. Similarly, we bloggers have the opportunity on a regular basis to share a bit of advice, but it’s often directed toward those that already have some experience in our area.
So for this Lunar Festival, I have a bit of a challenge for you: Write something directed not at those that have months or years of experience, but for those that are just getting started.
You’re the Elder. Pretend you’re smart for a few days =P
You Scratch My Back…
Occasionally, someone will comment here and break from the usual mould of leaving a link to their guild website. Instead, these intrepid pioneers will link to their own website, and I thought a roundup of our ED bloggers and general internet types would be nice. If you’re bored at work and looking for something to read, hopefully one of these will tickle your pickle.
